The name "Mazda" stands for outstanding value, uncompromising quality, and an exhilarating driving experience. It was meaningful when the first Mazda vehicles arrived in the U.S. back in 1970, and it continued with the introduction of legendary vehicles such as the RX-7 and the MX-5 Miata. It's still that way today as we continue building on our reputation as an industry leader, maintaining a loyal following of repeat customers along the way.
Roger Beasley Mazda opened its doors on March 1st, 1972 at 6918 Burnet Road as one of the first Mazda dealerships in the nation. Because of the early success of the Mazda brand in Austin, Roger Beasley Mazda has seen fit to expand: eight acquisitions of adjacent property in the heart of the city. Also known as Mazda Central, it has earned Mazdas elite President Clubs status for 15 years in a row: one of just 6 stores nationwide to gain that level of customer satisfaction and professionalism. It's no surprise, based on that success, that Austin is the #1 Mazda per-capita city in the U.S.
Roger Beasley has been in the car business from the start. In high school he repaired and raced cars. In 1961 he graduated with a degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas. Before opening Roger Beasley Mazda in 1972, he, along with his business partner Paul Holcomb, bought and sold used cars at 5505 North Lamar. Over the next several years Roger bought and sold new cars, working at franchises such as American Motors, Kia, Honda, Lotus, Daihatsu, Renault, Peugeot, Suzuki, and Ford franchises.
Roger Beasley Mazda proudly supports the Town Lake Trail Foundation, the Austin Humane Society, and the Ronald McDonald House.
Roger has served on the Board of Directors for J.P. Morgan Chase, as Vice President of the Texas Auto Dealers Association, and on dealer councils for Saab, American Motors, and Mazda. In 2001 he was recognized as one of the top 100 dealers nationwide by Ford Motor Corp. He also served as President of the Austin Ski Club.
Roger has one daughter and two grandchildren. His hobbies include horse racing, rafting, running, skiing, and fishing.
